Jane Austen Quote and Colonial Williamsburg

Updated: Apr 2, 2021

"To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment." - Jane Austen

I have always loved Jane Austen's stories also that era. I wonder what it would be like to live in that time period. Then, I thought how it would be hard on my father having four daughters and no sons. My favorite of Jane's books is Pride and Prejudice also the movie version(2005) with Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennett and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy.

The photographs that I took was at Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. It was a nice place to visit but being a tourist area things could get a little expensive. We got a family package when the children was little. Purchasing that cut back on the cost as a group. It was amazing how the people have to go through an apprenticeship to learn how to work there, especially how they talked from that era. They didn't have slang like we have now or 20 years ago when we went.

There was a lot of things to see and do at Colonial Williamsburg. One morning I was up before the sleepy heads got up and went for a walk. It was funny to see two eras clash. I saw a jogger crossing the road and in the background two ladies walking to their stations wearing their dresses, aprons and bonnets. Then I got turn around. I went down one of the side streets the aroma filled the air of fresh baked bread. This bread was pretzel rolls. I got a baker's dozen(13) and to them back to the room. I ate one along the way. It was delicious and hot. When I got back in the room the smell of the rolls woke everyone up. Bummer now I have to share.
